Maritime ports advised to hoist cautionary signal 3

A low-pressure area has formed over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh. In response, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has advised all maritime ports to hoist local cautionary signal number 3.

The advisory was issued in a weather alert on Monday (July 14).

According to the alert, the low-pressure system has created a steep pressure gradient over the North Bay and adjacent areas. As a result, squally or gusty winds may sweep across the North Bay, coastal regions of Bangladesh, and the maritime ports.

Maritime ports in Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been specifically advised to hoist cautionary signal No. 3.

Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay have been advised to stay close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
