  One killed, 10 injured in Madaripur road accident

One person was killed and at least 10 others were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck on the Dhaka-Barishal highway in Madaripur on Saturday midnight.

The accident took place around 12:00 AM in the Samaddar area under Sadar upazila.

According to police, the deceased was the truck driver but his identity could not be confirmed immediately.


According to locals, a Dhaka-bound passenger bus of Unique Paribahan, which had started from Kuakata in Patuakhali, collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction upon reaching the Samaddar area.

The truck driver died on the spot, while at least 10 bus passengers sustained injuries.

Being informed, a team from the Fire Service and Highway Police rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and admitted them to Madaripur General Hospital.

Mostafapur Highway Police Station in-charge Md Mizanur Rahman confirmed the incident and said that the deceased’s body has been kept at the Madaripur General Hospital mortuary.
