The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers at a few places in Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions over the next 24 hours, beginning at 9:00 am today.

“Rain or thundershowers is likely to occur at a few places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions,” said a BMD bulletin issued this morning.

Elsewhere in the country, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with a partly cloudy sky. The BMD also predicted that day temperatures may remain nearly unchanged, while night temperatures could rise slightly.

The department added that the cyclonic storm Montha over the southwest Bay and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal had moved north-northwestwards and intensified into a severe cyclonic storm over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas as of 6:00 am today.

It is expected to move further west-northwest and cross India’s Andhra Pradesh coast this evening or tonight.

On Monday, the highest temperature in the country was recorded at 35.9°C in Khepupara, while the lowest temperature today was 21.8°C in Badalgachhi.

In Dhaka, the sun will set at 5:22 pm today and rise again at 6:03 am tomorrow.
