  Hashimukh champs CPD Climate Week-2025 award

Hashimukh Somaj Kallyan Songstha (HSKS) has been awarded with the champion award for its Eco-Craft Project at the CPD Climate Week 2025 event.

The four-day international conference, themed `A World Beyond Crisis: Climate Solutions That Work,` was hosted by the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) at the BRAC Centre Inn here.

The event brought together policymakers, researchers, civil society leaders, youth representatives, and private sector entrepreneurs to discuss sustainable climate strategies.

The award was presented to Nusrat Akter (Co-founder & President of Hashimukh) and her team.

CPD Executive Director Dr. Fahmida Khatun, Deputy Head of Mission of the Royal Danish Embassy in Dhaka Anders B. Carlsen presented the award to the champions during the closing ceremony yesterday.

At the event, Hashimukh showcased its flagship initiative `Eco-Craft: Repurposing Dry Waste for Climate Resilience in Bangladesh,` a program designed under the vision `Clean Planet, Skilled Women, Sustainable Futures.`

The initiative aims to knack 200 marginalized women and youth 120 in Dhaka and 80 in Dacope - in eco-craft production using Tetra Pak and plastic waste, transforming waste into livelihood opportunities and creating a replicable circular economy model.

At its exhibition booth, Hashimukh displayed a wide range of eco-friendly crafts made from recyclable materials, including diaries, organizers, wall d‚cor, planters, pen holders, and ornament boxes. The booth drew significant attention from visitors, including Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the Interim Government for the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and other national and international dignitaries.

Nusrat Akter said, "This incredible achievement is the result of our students` dedication, creativity, and tireless hard work, combined with the unbreakable teamwork of our entire Hashimukh family."

Since its establishment in 2014, the organization has impacted nearly 250,000 individuals across slums and climate-affected regions in Bangladesh, empowering marginalized groups toward a sustainable and equitable future.
