Bangladesh, Pakistan to hold 9th Joint Economic Commission meeting in Dhaka next week

Bangladesh and Pakistan on Thursday welcomed the upcoming 9th meeting of the Joint Economic Commission (JEC), set to take place in Dhaka on 27 October 2025, marking the resumption of the forum after a considerable gap.

Both countries expressed satisfaction over recent progress in bilateral cooperation, particularly in simplifying visa procedures and resuming air connectivity.

The announcement came as Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Imran Haider, paid his maiden courtesy call on Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, the two sides appreciated the recent high-level exchanges between Dhaka and Islamabad, including the visit of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to Bangladesh in August 2025 and the successful 6th Foreign Secretary–level Bilateral Consultations held in Dhaka in April 2025.

They also discussed a range of bilateral issues and underscored the need to strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors.

The Foreign Affairs Adviser assured the Pakistani High Commissioner of full cooperation during his tenure in Bangladesh.
