International: China`s commitment to ecological conservation has brought about historic, transformative, and comprehensive progress, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng said at the opening ceremony of the 2026 APEC Ministerial Meeting on Forestry held in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.

Addressing delegates at the meeting, He said China has pursued a path of modernization that combines rapid economic growth with long-term social stability while ensuring harmony between humanity and nature.

He noted that the Asia-Pacific region is home to some of the world`s richest forest resources and most diverse ecosystems, accounting for more than half of the world`s total forest area.

The Vice Premier said China has consistently promoted ecological conservation, fostered a culture of environmental stewardship, and advanced the concept of green development to help safeguard global ecological security. He added that China continues to share its experience and practical solutions with the Asia-Pacific region and the wider international community to support environmental protection efforts.

Looking ahead, He said China will further accelerate the green transformation of its economy and society to address mounting environmental challenges. He also reaffirmed China`s readiness to strengthen cooperation with all parties in promoting high-quality development of the regional forestry sector and advancing sustainable green development.
