  Prof. Md. Maksudur Rahman Sarker FCMA Elected New Chairman of SBAC Bank

Professor Md. Maksudur Rahman Sarker, FCMA, an Independent Director of SBAC Bank PLC and Chairman of the Department of Accounting at the University of Dhaka, has been elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of SBAC Bank PLC. The decision has been made during the 215th meeting of the Bank’s Board of Directors on Wednesday (September 09, 2026). Professor Maksudur Rahman Sarker completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) and Master of Commerce degrees in Accounting at Dhaka University, where he was awarded the first class first position in both and subsequently joined the department as lecturer. He later obtained an MBA in Finance from the University of New Brunswick, Canada. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level-1, awarded by the Association for Investment Management and Research (USA), and completed a professional CMA (Cost and Management Accountant) degree from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB). Before that, Professor Sarker completed his higher education with scholarships in Canada and the United States. He earned recognitions at both the Secondary and Higher Secondary levels by securing places in the merit position of the Cumilla Education Board.

Professor Md. Maksudur Rahman Sarker is a distinguished academician, researcher and renowned accountant with expertise in the financial sector. He has authored more than 35 published articles in different academic and professional journals both at home and abroad. His book, ‘Credit Management of Commercial Banks: A Comparative Study of Public and Private Sector Banks’, has gained significant popularity among the readers. Professor Sarker has also participated in international financial seminars and conferences in over 20 countries, including the USA, Canada, Japan, South Africa & China.
