Online Desk : Fourth phase of elections in 54 municipalities of 37 districts began on Sunday morning.
Voters using electronic voting machines started casting their ballots at 8:00am, which will continue till 4pm without any break in 30 municipalities of 29 districts.
Under this phase, a total of 221 candidates are contesting for the mayoral posts in 55 municipalities, while 2,073 candidates for the posts of general councillor and 618 candidates for the posts of reserved councillor.
There are some 83 lakh (832,428) under 793 polling stations in the 55 municipalities.
The voting was first scheduled in 57 municipalities, but the Election Commission (EC) later on postponed the elections to the Kalkini municipality in Madaripur and Kalai municipality in Joypurhat over pre-polls violence.
