The education ministry on Tuesday declared all educational institutions and coaching centres shut till April 9 in a bid to avoid further Covid-19 transmission. The ministry made this declaration through a press release signed by Md. Abul Khayer, Public relations officer of the ministry.

The decision of the closure was taken in a meeting held today chaired by Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni. Among others, Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury, Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain, Technical and Madrasah Education Secretary Munshi Shahabuddin Ahmed and other senior officials of the ministry were present at the meeting.

According to the press release, the minister also discussed this matter with the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. The minister also said from March 28, Saturday, the Sangsad TV channel will telecast lessons for the students of class VI to X from 9 am to 9 pm daily. Dr Dipu Moni also urged the students to stay at home during the period and comply with the declared hygiene code of IEDCR.
