Registration for Bakeman’s 2nd International Language League Starts

Press Release: Bakeman`s Second International Language League is organized by the Department of English and Modern Languages and sponsored by Bakeman’s, a premium biscuit brand of Akij Baker’s Limited. At 3 p.m, the Language League was inaugurated today through a press conference at the Syndicate Hall of the NorthSouthUniversity, Dhaka.

Language League is Bangladesh`s most prominent language-based Olympiad. More than 50,000 students across the country will participate in this language Olympiad, and it will be open to students from schools, colleges, and universities. Students` proficiency in five languages- Bengali, English, Chinese, French, and German- will be tested in this competition, divided into four sections based on age.

Md. Shafiqul Islam Tushar, Chief Marketing Officer, Akij Baker`s Limited, said, "Initiatives like the International Language League would further enhance Bangladesh`s knowledge-based, cultural, and other communication with the rest of the world.

He also said, "As a nation, we value the practice of our mother tongue first, and we try to take the best from different languages ​​and cultures all over the world as of globalization, which we will see reflected in the international Language League. We are proud to have Bakeman`s involvement with such a language-based event."

In addition, Prof. Dr. Ismail Hossain, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, NorthSouthUniversity, said, "NorthSouthUniversity is proud to host Bakeman`s Second International Language League, the biggest language competition in Bangladesh, on the golden jubilee of Bangladesh`s victory. We are one step ahead in language practice." He also added that we value the practice of our mother tongue as a nation.

Journalists from the media asked questions about language when the competition registration would start and end.  Mehedi Hasan, Senior Lecturer of the Department of English and Modern Languages, replied that the registration starts from December 19, 2021, and is open for all local and international participants. This registration will continue until January 15, 2022. He also added that this competition would be held in 32 selected venues of Bangladesh. There will be campaigns all over Bangladesh in different venues. The winners of the divisional qualifying round will have the opportunity to participate in the semi-finals and finals at NorthSouthUniversity.

Dr. AQM Rahman Bhuiyan, Chairman, Department of English and Modern Languages, informed the reporters and journalists that the students would register through www.languageleague.info. He thanked the media partners and other sponsors for being with NSU. Students of DEML, Officials of NSU, and Akij Baker`s Limited were also present in the Press Conference of Bakeman’s 2nd International Language League.
