Bangladesh claims SAFF U-20 Championship, defeats Nepal 4-1
  Date : 17-09-2024

Bangladesh has emerged as the champion of the SAFF U-20 Championship, delivering a surprising defeat to two-time winner Nepal. The final match, held at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato, saw Bangladesh secure a 4-1 victory, marking their first-ever title in this tournament.

The game began with a tight contest, but Bangladesh broke the deadlock in injury time of the first half with a stunning free-kick goal by Mirajul from outside the penalty box.

Despite Nepal’s aggressive play in the second half, Bangladesh extended their lead. Mirajul scored again in the 55th minute, followed by a goal from Ravi Hossain in the 71st minute, who capitalised on a pass from Mirajul inside the penalty area.

Nepal managed to score a consolation goal in the 81st minute through Samir Tamang. Although the Nepali team made several attempts during the added injury time, Bangladesh sealed their victory with a fourth goal in the 96th minute, securing the championship.
