2 killed in Gazipur road accident

A battery-powered auto-rickshaw driver and a passenger were killed after being hit by a lorry in Gazipur`s in Pubail on Sunday.

The accident took place in the morning at Nimtoli on ??the Tongi-Kaliganj regional road under Pubail Police Station in Gazipur.

The dead were identified as Hanif Mia, 35, an easy bike driver from Hyderabad village of Pubail, and Shahed Sabbir, 25, a passenger of the easy bike, from Mazukhan village of Pubail.

Locals said a speeding lorry heading towards Dhaka collided head-on with a battery-powered easy bike heading towards Pubail. The easy bike driver and a passenger died on the spot. Several others were injured.

On information, police reached the spot, rescued the injured and sent them to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital.

Pubail Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Md. Amirul Islam confirmed it.
