Jamaat seeks ban on JaPa, insists on PR method
  Date : 31-08-2025

The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has demanded the government impose a ban on the Jatiya Party (JaPa) like Awami League.

Jamaat Nayeb-e-Amir Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher said this while talking to the reporters after a meeting with Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka on Sunday, August 31.

"We have requested Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus to take measures to ban Jatiya Party like Awami League," Taher said.

He said they also demanded the government take action against those involved in the attack on Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur.

Jamaat, in the meeting, called for swift implementation of `July Charter`, and formulation of a new policy before the next general election, he stated.

Taher noted that they also urged the Chief Adviser to arrange a referendum on taking vote in PR (proportionate representative) method.
