The Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia has formally bid farewell to outgoing High Commissioner Md Shamim Ahsan in a ceremony held at its auditorium in Kuala Lumpur.

According to a press release issued by the mission on Friday, the farewell reception was attended by all High Commission officials and staff.

The event was chaired by Deputy High Commissioner Mosammat Shahanara Monika.

In their remarks, speakers praised Ahsan’s efforts in strengthening Bangladesh-Malaysia bilateral relations, enhancing the image of Bangladesh abroad, and advancing the welfare of the Bangladeshi expatriate community in Malaysia.

They expressed gratitude to the outgoing envoy for his dedication to launching and implementing various welfare and service-oriented initiatives for expatriates.

Md Shamim Ahsan took charge as Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Malaysia on October 20, 2023.

During his tenure, Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Anwar Ibrahim visited Bangladesh, while Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser and Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus paid an official visit to Malaysia.
