Detectives in Dhaka have arrested former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police AKM Nahidul Islam.

He was detained from his residence in the capital’s Eskaton area on Friday night, police sources said.

A senior officer of the Detective Branch (DB), speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the arrest on Saturday.

He said the arrest was made based on a warrant issued by the International Crimes Tribunal.

Acting on intelligence, DB officers apprehended Nahidul Islam and later handed him over to the investigators handling the case.
