Kamrul Hasan: “Religion belongs to each individual, but this country and its soil belong to all of us,” said S.A. Jinnah Kabir, Member of the BNP Central Executive Committee, former General Secretary of Manikganj District BNP, senior member of the convening committee, and BNP candidate for Manikganj-1 constituency.
He made this remark on Wednesday night while visiting several Durga Puja pavilions in Shibaloy upazila. Speaking at the Shibaloy Bazar Puja Mandap, he addressed devotees, worshippers, local residents, party leaders, activists, and visitors. Leaders of BNP at district, upazila, union, and ward levels, as well as leaders of the Puja Celebration Committee, were present.
S.A. Jinnah Kabir said that the 31-point program for restructuring the state, announced by BNP’s Acting Chairman and National Leader Tarique Rahman, is a roadmap to ensure people’s fundamental rights and to build the nation into a developed and prosperous one. “It was under his visionary leadership that the country was freed from the grip of autocracy. Therefore, everyone must unite to realize the rights of the people,” he added.
He further said, “It is our moral responsibility to preserve religious harmony. The unity of people from all religions and communities is what can consolidate the democracy and independence of the country.”
Speaking on the upcoming national elections, S.A. Jinnah Kabir said that the interim government has announced it will publish the election roadmap in the first half of February. However, an anti-liberation quarter is conspiring to thwart the election. He urged all to build a united public opinion to resist these evil forces.
Referring to the political reality of Manikganj, he said, “Manikganj is a stronghold of the BNP. To ensure victory for the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ in every constituency, we must strengthen the organizational structure by overcoming divisions. Only then will the dream of martyred President Ziaur Rahman be fulfilled.”
At the end of the event, he expressed gratitude to the devotees and worshippers attending the Durga Puja and sought everyone’s prayers for the recovery of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and the good health of National Leader Tarique Rahman.
Earlier, S.A. Jinnah Kabir visited more than 25 Durga Puja pavilions in Ghior and Daulatpur upazilas, exchanged greetings with worshippers, and provided financial assistance on behalf of Tarique Rahman.
