Kamrul Hasan: There is no alternative to unity in safeguarding religious harmony and ensuring the welfare of the country, said Dr. Khondkar Akbar Hossain Babul, elder son of late BNP Secretary General Khondkar Delwar Hossain, former vice-president of the district BNP, current member of the convening committee, and BNP nomination aspirant for Manikganj-1 constituency.
On Tuesday night, after visiting several Durga Puja mandaps in Ghior upazila, Dr. Babul made these remarks while addressing devotees, worshippers, party leaders, supporters, voters, and locals at the Baniajuri Malakar Bari Puja Mandap.
Leaders of BNP from Ghior, Daulatpur, and Shibaloy upazilas, along with leaders of the party’s affiliated bodies and Puja Celebration Committees, were also present.
Dr. Babul said, “BNP Chairman Deshnayak Tarique Rahman has earned international recognition for his contribution to protecting independence, safeguarding the constitution, restoring democracy, and resolving the ongoing national crisis. To ensure people’s long-cherished rights, he has announced a 31-point reform plan for restructuring the state, which reflects a united effort of all communities regardless of religion or caste.”
He alleged that a vested quarter is carrying out subversive activities across the country in a bid to foil the upcoming national elections. Calling on people to build a united public opinion against such evil forces, he emphasized the need to forget divisions and work together to fulfill the dream of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and to implement the 31-point reform agenda announced by Tarique Rahman to strengthen the party’s organizational structure.
During the mandap visits, Dr. Babul also prayed for the recovery of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and the good health and long life of Tarique Rahman. He also conveyed the Puja greetings message from the BNP’s Acting Chairman to the devotees.
He added, “Durga Puja is not just a religious festival; it is a symbol of harmony, fraternity, and peaceful coexistence. To ensure this festival is celebrated peacefully and joyfully, the BNP will always stand beside you. Celebrate without fear—we are here like vigilant guardians at your side.”
Earlier, Dr. Babul visited around 10 mandaps in Daulatpur upazila and, on Wednesday, over 15 mandaps in Shibaloy upazila, where he exchanged greetings with devotees and inquired about their well-being.
