  Date : 15-10-2025

The chemical warehouse fire in Mirpur’s Rupnagar has not been completely extinguished, even after 23 hours. Still smoke is found at that warehouse.

Meanwhile, Rupnagar Police Station OC Mokhlesur Rahman said that out of 16 BURNT bodies, nine have already been handed over to the families after DNA tests. The rest seven bodies will also be handed over after autopsy and DNA testing to know who they were.

Relatives of the missing person have been gathering near the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital there since Tuesday night. Some are claiming relatives after seeing the bodies on Wednesday morning.

Talha Bin Jasim, an official at the Fire Service headquarters’ media cell said, "The chemical warehouse fire has not yet been extinguished. It is not ensured how much time it will take. However, fire service personnel are working."

The fire broke out around 11:40 AM on Tuesday at Shialbari area of Rupnagar, Mirpur. The building reportedly housed both a garment factory and a chemical warehouse. The blaze later left 16 dead and some others injured.
