Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus received a warm reception upon his arrival at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations on Monday.
FAO Director General Qu Dongyu welcomed Prof Yunus at the entrance of the FAO headquarters, according to Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser.
During his visit, Prof Yunus met Brazilian agronomist and writer Jose Graziano da Silva, a former FAO Director General, at the organization’s headquarters in Rome.
Later in the day, the Nobel laureate is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the grand opening of the World Food Forum (WFF), which will begin after 6pm Bangladesh Standard Time.
Following his keynote, Prof Yunus will visit the Offices of the Global Alliance, Azad said.
He is also set to hold separate meetings with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri, and the Prime Minister of Djibouti later in the day.
