Adviser to the Ministries of Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs, Sharmeen Soneya Murshid, emphasized the importance of prioritizing physical and mental well-being to build a new and prosperous Bangladesh.
She made the remarks while inaugurating the two-day National Nutrition and Wellness Summit at the Department of Social Services auditorium in Agargaon, where she served as the chief guest.
Highlighting the pivotal role of youth in nation-building, Murshid said young people must actively promote nutrition and mental health to nurture a healthy generation. She urged them to uphold values of unity, respect, and inclusiveness and to prepare themselves for social work that can drive the country forward.
“Over half of Bangladesh’s population is youth, and their active participation is critical to creating a society free from corruption,” she added.
The event also featured speeches by Md. Saidur Rahman Khan, Director General of the Department of Social Services, and SM Shaikat, Executive Director of SERAC Bangladesh. Leaders from various social organizations, including NIRAPAD Alliance, Mission Green Bangladesh, and HeartWise Nutrition, attended the summit.
