Election Commissioner Md. Anwarul Islam Sarker has reiterated the Election Commission’s firm commitment to conducting a free, fair, and credible national election in February 2026, assuring stakeholders that all necessary preparations are on track.
Speaking at a consultation meeting with journalists at the Patuakhali Circuit House on Friday, Commissioner Sarker emphasized the Commission’s neutrality and institutional readiness.
“We are fully committed to our constitutional responsibility. We are neutral and determined to deliver a free and fair election,” he said. “There is no hindrance in our way as we move forward with essential preparations.”
The EC has already launched key initiatives for the upcoming general election, including finalizing voter lists, identifying polling stations, and coordinating with law enforcement and government agencies to ensure security and logistical support.
Sarker stressed that the Commission is functioning independently and in strict adherence to electoral laws. He called on political parties, media, and civil society to cooperate in fostering an environment conducive to peaceful and transparent voting.
The dialogue session in Patuakhali was part of a broader outreach effort by the EC to engage with media professionals across the country. Similar meetings are being held nationwide to enhance transparency, address concerns, and build public confidence ahead of the crucial February poll.
