Election will be held peacefully: Home Adviser
  Date : 15-11-2025

(BSS) – Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today reaffirmed that the forthcoming 13th parliamentary election will be held peacefully in the first half of February, ahead of Ramadan.

“The political parties have announced the names of their candidates. The polls will be held in a peaceful manner as law enforcement agencies have already completed all necessary preparations, he said here.

Speaking to journalists at the Circuit House in Patuakhali, the Home Adviser said that both the public and political parties are now fully focused on the upcoming polls.

Chowdhury noted that the Election Commission will formally announce the election schedule, while security forces remain on standby to ensure a secure environment.

Law enforcement personnel will be deployed for nine days—five days before the election, on election day, and three days after—to maintain law and order nationwide.

He also disclosed that special operations will be carried out across the country ahead of the polls to prevent any unrest.

For the election, a massive deployment is planned: around 1.5 lakh police, 5.5 lakh Ansar, one lakh army personnel, 35,000 BGB, 500 navy members, 8,000 RAB members, and 4,000 coast guard personnel.

Addressing concerns surrounding the verdict scheduled for November 17 against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a case related to the July Uprising, Chowdhury said security agencies have taken “all required preparations” to avert any untoward incidents.

“The verdict must be announced on November 17, and no unpleasant incident will occur anywhere in the country centering the verdict,” he stated.

Earlier in the day, the Home Adviser visited the Bangladesh Coast Guard base and Patuakhali district Police Lines. He later travelled to Kuakata, where he is scheduled to inspect camps of the Tourist Police and River Police.
