Security has been sharply tightened around the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) in Dhaka as the court prepares to deliver its verdict on Monday in the crimes against humanity case against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and two of her senior officials.
The three-member ICT-1 bench, headed by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, is scheduled to announce the long-awaited judgment at 11 AM Monday.
Authorities have imposed a strict four-tier security perimeter around the tribunal, involving the army, Border Guard Bangladesh, Rapid Action Battalion, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, and the Armed Police Battalion.
Vehicle movement has been suspended along the stretch from the High Court gate to Doyel Chattar, and all individuals entering the High Court and tribunal areas are undergoing thorough checks.
“We have received instructions from the higher authorities to remain on maximum alert to ensure law and order,” Mohammad Abdul Karim, Deputy Assistant Director of Rab-3, told reporters.
