Attack in Nabiganj centring on Facebook status
  Date : 24-11-2025

Habiganj Correspondent: There is an allegation of attack at the house of an expatriate in Habiganj. The incident occurred at the house of Abdul Haque (72) at Anatabad village in the Banglabazar area under Nabiganj Upazila around 11.00 AM last Saturday (22 November). It is alleged Chhatradal leader Rabiul Islam (29) led the attack. A woman named Ripa Begum (45) was seriously injured in the attack. It is learnt that Md Billal Miah is a United Kingdom expatriate Chhatra League leader. He criticised and ridiculed the honourable Chief Adviser of the Interim Government and the Acting President of BNP Tarique Rahman and posted those in his verified Facebook ID. He also used to post and share in favour of the illegal former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. From his ID, he is continuing to share most of the erroneous and provocative posts in the official Facebook Page of Bangladesh Chhatra League and the Awami League. As a sequel to those statuses or shares, the miscreants attacked his house. The family members of the expatriate informed us that some masked people numbering 7/8 riding on three motorbikes headed by Chhatradal leader Rabiul Islam of Nabiganj Upazila came to the house of the expatriate and attacked his house. Ripa Begum, sister of the expatriate, was seriously injured in the attack. The attackers threatened the sister of the expatriate and talked various indecent words with her. The Chhatradal leaders also asked her brother to seek pardon in public and told him to immediately delete all the statuses posted by him. They also warned her that no further posts should be shared through the ID of her brother. They also threatened to burn his houses and to kill him while he returns to the country if the earlier posts in the timeline are not deleted. No case has so far been filed with the local police station in this connection, but the preparation was underway to file the case, it is learnt.
