Bangladesh to chase mammoth 222-run target against India

A poor effort from the Bangladesh spinners has allowed India to post a mammoth 222-run target against Bangladesh in second T20I of three-match series at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday.

After opting to bowl first, Bangladeshi pacers varied their pace smartly with the new ball to remove India`s top three inside the powerplay. At 41 of 3, Nitish Reddy and Rinku Singh joined hands. The former got off to a slow start scoring just 13 off his first 13 balls. He got a free-hit and he was tough to stop after that. Switched gears and hit sixes for fun against the spinners to record his maiden T20I fifty. He was striking at more than 200 before he was deceived by Mustafizur`s slower ball.

While Nitish was the aggressor, Rinku wasn`t too far behind. The left-hander kept the scoreboard ticking and batted smartly to raise a 26-ball fifty. They forged a 108-run stand off just 49 deliveries and cameos from Hardik and Parag took India`s total well above 200.

Taskin and Mustafizur were superb with their variations but the spinners were taken to the cleaners even though Rishad Hossain managed to pick three wickets in the final over. Meanwhile, the spinners frequently missed their lengths, and bowled a no-ball too.
