S.A. Jinnah Kabir Emerges as the Most Qualified Leader in Manikganj BNP Politics — Golam Mohiur Khan Sipar

Staff Correspondent : In the evolving landscape of Manikganj BNP politics, S.A. Jinnah Kabir, Central Executive Committee Member and Senior Member of the District Convening Committee, has emerged as one of the most competent and discussed leadership figures. Freedom Fighter Golam Mohiur Khan Sipar, founding convener of the Jago Jubodal in Manikganj and the first publicity secretary of the BNP Central Youth Wing, has described Jinnah Kabir as “the true political successor to the late BNP Secretary General Advocate Khondker Delwar Hossain.” In an exclusive interview given on Tuesday afternoon, Sipar reflected on his long political journey and shared his thoughts on the legacy of Jinnah Kabir. “From the very inception of BNP, both Jinnah Kabir and I were dedicated workers under the leadership of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman,” Sipar recalled. “During every visit of President Zia to Manikganj — including major initiatives like the Kasadh Canal Excavation Project — we, along with Delwar Hossain and Jinnah Kabir, worked side by side.” According to Sipar, the late president visited Manikganj 19 times, and on every occasion, Jinnah Kabir played a leading organizational role. “No one would rest as long as the President stayed in Manikganj. Such dedication is rare among leaders today,” he added. Despite enduring 17 years of arrests, political harassment, and fabricated cases, Jinnah Kabir never deviated from the ideals of the party. “Whenever party workers faced false charges, Jinnah Kabir stood by them — even funding legal assistance from his own pocket. Such sacrifice and generosity are uncommon in today’s politics,” said the veteran freedom fighter. Sipar further remarked, “I have not seen another leader in Manikganj BNP who mirrors the qualities and leadership of Jinnah Kabir. His proper recognition would make the district BNP far more united and stronger.” Recalling his political days with the late Khondker Delwar Hossain, Sipar said, “We were five — Delwar Hossain, myself, S.A. Jinnah Kabir, Maksudul Haque Mukul, and Md. Harun — who worked together for BNP. After Delwar, the most popular and hardworking leader in Manikganj has undoubtedly been Jinnah Kabir.” Even during the most difficult periods of opposition politics, Jinnah Kabir remained at the forefront. He has been actively implementing the 31-point reform program announced by BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, conducting mass outreach, rallies, and leaflet campaigns across all 22 unions of the Manikganj–1 constituency. “In every movement of the party, Jinnah Kabir has taken a leading role. His organizational command and work ethic have become the lifeblood of Manikganj BNP,” Sipar asserted. Beyond politics, Jinnah Kabir is known for his social commitment. He has extended humanitarian support to river erosion victims and disaster-affected families — earning respect as a philanthropic leader in the region. In his concluding remarks, Golam Mohiur Khan Sipar urged BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to nominate S.A. Jinnah Kabir as the BNP candidate for Manikganj–1. “He embodies the ideals of the party, the people, and the spirit of the Liberation War — and that is why the public’s trust and affection for him are genuine,” Sipar said. Political observers believe that, amid BNP’s current restructuring and leadership selection process, recognizing field-tested and principled leaders like S.A. Jinnah Kabir could give new momentum to the party’s grassroots movement. His strong grassroots network, organizational experience, and unwavering commitment to BNP’s ideology have elevated Jinnah Kabir to a distinct height in Manikganj politics.
