Bangladesh vows stronger system to send skilled workers to Japan

Diplomatic Desk: Bangladesh has reiterated its commitment to creating an effective system for deploying skilled Bangladeshi workers to Japan and enhancing bilateral cooperation in human resource development.

The statement came during a seminar titled "Bangladesh: A Highly Potential Source Country of Skilled Human Resources for Japan", organized by the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo and followed by a business matching event at a Tokyo conference center. The seminar was supported by the Japan International Trainee and Skilled Worker Cooperation Organization (JITCO).
Dr. Neyamat Ullah Bhuiyan, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates` Welfare and Overseas Employment, attended as the chief guest, while Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md. Daud Ali delivered the welcome remarks.
Ambassador Ali urged all stakeholders to collaborate closely to achieve shared goals in sending skilled Bangladeshi workers to Japan.
Dr. Bhuiyan highlighted the complementarity between Japan`s growing labor demand and Bangladesh`s surplus workforce, noting that Japan may require around 11 million foreign workers by 2040, while Bangladesh will maintain a working-age surplus of nearly 25 million.
He said 33 Technical Training Centers (TTCs) have been designated to prepare manpower for the Japanese market, with scope for expansion if needed.
He also mentioned the creation of a dedicated "Japan Cell" within the ministry to coordinate employment-related matters. Dr. Bhuiyan expressed optimism that joint efforts between Bangladeshi and Japanese recruiting organizations would benefit both nations.
JITCO Senior Vice President Shigeo Matsutomi presented on global labor trends and Japan`s employment outlook.
During the event, thirteen agreements were signed between Bangladeshi manpower-sending agencies and Japanese recruiting companies.
Dr. Bhuiyan is scheduled to attend another human resource seminar in Nagoya on November 7, where further cooperation agreements between Bangladeshi and Japanese firms are expected.
This initiative is part of Bangladesh`s broader effort to expand overseas employment opportunities while strengthening ties with Japan through skilled workforce development.
