PM announces LPG card scheme for women

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has announced that the government will introduce LPG card services for women to ease the burden of cooking in households.

While addressing the inauguration ceremony of the re-excavation work of the Ulashi-Jadunathpur canal in Sharsha, Jashore, on Monday he said, ``To reduce the hardship of cooking, LPG card services will be provided to women. In addition, free education for girls up to the degree level will be ensured.``

The Prime Minister further added that the government aims to distribute family cards to women across the country within the next five years.

``The politics of the BNP is about ensuring the well-being of the people.``

Referring to recent political developments, Tarique Rahman said, ``Through the movement of students and the public, authoritarian rule has been driven out. Now it is time to build the country.``

He also assured that many factories that had previously been shut down, would be reopened within the next two to four months.
