  Iftar Reception Hosted by Jamaat-e-Islami in Honor of Diplomats

Diplomatic Correspondent: An iftar reception was held by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in honor of diplomats. The event was chaired by the party’s Ameer and Leader of the Opposition in the National Parliament, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, MP.

The program began on Saturday (7 March) at the LD Hall of the National Parliament Building in the capital with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an. Distinguished diplomats from home and abroad, representatives of international organizations, and prominent personalities attended the event.

Among the diplomats present were ambassadors from the United States, China, Russia, the United Kingdom, Palestine, the European Union, Canada, India, Turkey, France, Germany, Italy, Pakistan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vatican City, Iran, Brunei Darussalam, Maldives, Algeria, Kosovo, Egypt, Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, Australia, Norway, Nepal, the Philippines, the Netherlands, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Switzerland, and South Korea. Representatives from international organizations including UNDP, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNODC, Democracy International, and IOM, along with other foreign agencies, were also in attendance.

Among Jamaat leaders present were Nayeb-e-Ameer Professor Mujibur Rahman, MP; Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, former MP; Assistant Secretary General Maulana ATM Ma’sum; Advocate Muayyazem Hossain Helal; Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, MP; Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair; Central Executive Council Member Md. Nurul Islam Bulbul, MP; Mohammad Selim Uddin; Abdur Rob; Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, MP; Central Working Committee Member Zahidur Rahman; Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir, among others.

In his presidential address, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, MP, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, expressed sincere gratitude to the attending diplomats, representatives of international organizations, and distinguished guests. He stated that Bangladesh seeks to build more positive and balanced relations with the global community based on mutual respect, cooperation, and constructive engagement.

He expressed hope that relations between Bangladesh and the international community will become even stronger in the future through mutual understanding, a commitment to justice, and shared human values.

He further said that the teachings of Ramadan encourage people toward self-restraint, compassion, a sense of justice, and service to humanity. If these values are embraced in personal, social, and state life, it would be possible to establish a peaceful, justice-based, and welfare-oriented society.

He concluded by praying for peace, security, and prosperity for the country, the nation, the Muslim Ummah, and all humanity worldwide.
