Ferdous Munna Named Jubo Dal Vice-President

Special Correspondent: In recognition of his long-standing political struggle, organizational competence, and consistent contribution to party activities, former Dhaka University student leader Ferdous Ahmed Munna has been appointed as a Vice-President of the Central Committee of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, the youth wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Party leaders and activists view the appointment as a significant acknowledgment of Munna’s dedication to nationalist politics, highlighting his active role in various democratic movements, repeated imprisonment, and years of sacrifice in support of the party’s ideals.

A resident of Halishahar in Chattogram, Munna became involved in the politics of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal during his student years. While studying at Dhaka University, he held several important positions within the organization, including Central Committee Member, Cultural Affairs Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Vice-President. He also served as Joint Secretary and later President of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam Hall Chhatra Dal.

Drawing on his extensive experience in student politics, Munna later joined Jubo Dal and continued to strengthen his role within the organization. Before his latest promotion, he served as an Assistant Secretary in the central committee.

According to party sources, during the tenure of the Awami League government, Munna remained an active organizer on the frontlines of BNP-led movements and political campaigns. He participated in numerous programs demanding the restoration of democracy, the protection of voting rights, and the establishment of political freedoms. His involvement in these movements resulted in multiple arrests and periods of imprisonment. Despite facing political cases and various forms of pressure, he remained steadfast in his commitment to party activities.

Party activists say Munna has earned widespread acceptance at the grassroots level by consistently prioritizing the party and its ideology over personal interests. His presence during difficult periods of political struggle, organizational leadership, and support for party workers have further strengthened the confidence of activists in his leadership.

Academically, Munna has an impressive record. He obtained both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in International Relations from Dhaka University. Observers believe that his academic background in international politics and diplomacy has positively influenced his political outlook and organizational approach.

Fluent in both Bangla and English, Munna is also known for his expertise in information technology, administrative management, and public relations. He has been actively engaged in leadership development and strengthening organizational capacity for many years.

Reacting to his appointment, Munna said, “I will continue to work with dedication for the establishment of nationalist ideals, democracy, and the people’s voting rights, just as I have done in the past. Under the leadership of Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, my primary goal will be to organize the youth and build a strong, people-oriented, and ideology-based organization.”

Political observers believe that Munna’s elevation from student politics to the central leadership of Jubo Dal marks an important milestone in his political career. They note that his combination of organizational skills, academic background, and long experience in political movements positions him as a promising figure in Bangladesh’s nationalist political landscape.
