| DIPLOMATIC DESK: Bangladesh and Oman have jointly called for continued dialogue and diplomatic engagement to achieve a durable and peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict in the Gulf region, during high-level talks held in Muscat.
The Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Khalilur Rahman, met with Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, where both sides emphasized the importance of sustained diplomacy and constructive engagement among all concerned parties to de-escalate tensions and restore regional stability. During the meeting, Minister Rahman conveyed the sincere gratitude of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to His Majesty Haitham bin Tarik for his significant role in supporting efforts to bring the crisis to a peaceful and early conclusion. The discussions were also attended by Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister, Mr. Humaiun Kobir. Minister Rahman expressed deep appreciation to the Government of Oman for hosting over 700,000 Bangladeshi nationals, recognizing their valuable contribution to Oman’s social and economic development. In response, the Omani Foreign Minister praised the Bangladeshi community for their dedication and positive role in the country’s daily life and progress. Both sides further reviewed prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in key sectors such as pharmaceuticals, food and agriculture, and port logistics, with a shared interest in expanding trade and investment ties. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Bangladeshi Foreign Minister extended an invitation to his Omani counterpart to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time, signaling continued momentum in strengthening diplomatic relations between the two friendly nations.
