Vessel carrying octane arrives at Ctg port

A Hong Kong-flagged vessel, carrying 26,000 tons of octane from Malaysia, has arrived at the outer anchorage of Chattogram port on Thursday morning.

According to local agent Pride Shipping Line, the unloading of fuel from the vessel `Quichi` is scheduled to begin later in the day.

This marks the third shipment of octane received during the month of April.

Earlier, two additional vessels arrived with 26,000 and 27,000 tons of octane on April 8and April 17.

With a daily demand of approximately 1,200 tons, the total 79,000 tons of octane imported this month is expected to meet the country`s needs for more than two months.

Nazrul Islam, owner of Pride Shipping Line, stated that five more vessels carrying octane and diesel are currently stationed at the outer anchorage. Meanwhile, three vessels berthed on Wednesday have already begun unloading operations.

He added, the port has only three dolphin jetties, making it impossible to accommodate all vessels simultaneously. Additionally, adverse weather conditions are causing some delays in cargo handling.
