Pakistan education expo opens at SUST Sylhet, two MoU`s signed

Sylhet Bureau Office: The Pakistan Education Expo kicked off today at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, with Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider and SUST Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. M. Sarwaruddin Chowdhury jointly inaugurating the event.

Around 20 leading Pakistani universities are taking part, presenting programs across academic disciplines and promoting fully funded scholarships under the Pakistan–Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor initiative. The expo will run until 5:00 PM.

SUST Vice Chancellor Prof. Chowdhury and Pro-Vice Chancellor welcomed the high commissioner and representatives from Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission and participating universities. Calling the expo a valuable opportunity, Prof. Chowdhury said it allows Bangladeshi students to tap into Pakistan’s academic strengths and stressed the need to deepen cooperation, especially in science and technology.

High Commissioner Haider thanked SUST for hosting the event and said shared knowledge drives shared prosperity. He highlighted potential for stronger academic ties through joint research, student and faculty exchanges, and expanded educational linkages. He also spoke with students attending the expo and noted their interest in higher education opportunities in Pakistan.

On the sidelines, SUST signed two agreements with Pakistani institutions: a Memorandum of Understanding with the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST) and a Letter of Intent with the National University of Modern Languages (NUML).

The event was organized with support from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Public Diplomacy Pakistan, and the Higher Education Commission.
