Diplomatic Correspondent: The Russian House in Dhaka marked Russia Day with a grand cultural celebration featuring an international concert, cultural fair and exhibitions, bringing together representatives of the Russian and Bangladeshi communities, students, alumni, cultural figures and friends of Russia in a vibrant display of friendship and cultural exchange.

The event was inaugurated by Alexandra Khlevnaya, Director of the Russian House in Dhaka, who highlighted the historical significance of Russia Day, the cultural diversity of the Russian Federation and the role of cultural exchange in strengthening mutual understanding and friendship among nations.

Speaking on the occasion, Vyacheslav Sentyurin, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bangladesh, underscored the longstanding friendly relations between Russia and Bangladesh. He emphasized the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation in further deepening bilateral ties between the two countries.

As part of the formal program, guests were presented with a multimedia showcase portraying modern Russia. The presentation highlighted the country`s natural beauty, scientific and technological achievements, and rich cultural heritage.

One of the major attractions of the event was a performance by “Alabuga,” a folk music and dance ensemble from the Yelabuga College of Culture and Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan. Through traditional Russian and Tatar songs, instrumental performances and vibrant dances, the group introduced audiences to the diverse cultural traditions of Russia’s many ethnic communities.

The concert also featured internationally acclaimed musician Razil Gabbasov, who performed on traditional folk instruments, while Dillyara Mirovaeva, an Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, captivated the audience with a special musical performance.

As part of the cultural exchange program, a children`s dance group named “Happiness,” comprising the children of Bangladeshi graduates of Soviet universities, performed a traditional Bengali dance. Their presentation symbolized the enduring friendship between the peoples of Bangladesh and Russia and received warm appreciation from the audience.

Representatives of the Russian compatriot community living in Bangladesh also participated in the celebration. They presented a musical-poetic performance and danced to the popular Russian folk song “Korobeiniki,” adding further color to the festivities.

A special segment of the event was dedicated to the Republic of Tatarstan, introducing visitors to its culture, traditions and the city of Kazan, the republic’s capital.

Following the concert, guests attended a cultural fair organized in honor of Russia Day and visited two exhibitions. The “Multicultural Russia” exhibition showcased the country`s ethnic and cultural diversity, while the “Pristine Russia” exhibition highlighted Russia’s breathtaking landscapes and unique wildlife.

The fair featured a Matryoshka painting workshop, a Russian-style photo zone, souvenir displays, traditional food and beverages, and a variety of interactive cultural activities.

Organizers said the celebration reflected the growing interest in Russian culture in Bangladesh and reaffirmed the important role of cultural exchange in strengthening friendship, mutual understanding and cooperation between the two nations.
