  Cultaral event launches on the occasion of Nazrul Year 2026 in Phulpur

Mijan Akanda: The Nazrul Year 2026 was inaugurated in Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh on Monday with a colourful cultural programme celebrating the works and legacy of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

The inaugural ceremony was held at 11:00am at the Upazila Parishad hallroom, where Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sadhana Tripura formally declared the beginning of the year-long observance. The programme was organised by the Upazila Administration as part of the celebrations marking Nazrul Year 2026. Students from different schools and colleges took part in the cultural programme, presenting songs, poems and recitations inspired by the works of the rebel poet.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Shafiqul Islam, Secondary Education Officer Jahangir Hossain, Social Services Officer Shihab Uddin, senior joint convener of Phulpur Municipal BNP AKM Tozammel Haque Rubel, joint convener Aminul Islam Liton and AKM Sadekul Haque, were present among others.

Teachers and students from various educational institutions, along with leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organisations, also attended the programme.

The event highlighted the enduring influence of Kazi Nazrul Islam`s poetry, songs and literature among the younger generation and marked the beginning of a series of programmes in Phulpur to observe Nazrul Year 2026.
