MM Rahmatullah: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former Member of Parliament Mia Golam Porwar attended a reception hosted on the occasion of the National Day of Spain in Dhaka on Monday and handed over a letter of greetings from the Leader of the Opposition to the King of Spain.

The reception was organized by the Embassy of Spain in Dhaka on Monday evening, 12 October 2026, at the Grand Ballroom of Sheraton Dhaka Hotel. Diplomats from different countries, distinguished personalities and invited guests attended the program.

During the event, Mia Golam Porwar handed over a greeting letter sent by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition in the National Parliament Dr. Shafiqur Rahman MP to the Ambassador of Spain to Bangladesh, Mr. Gabriel Sistiaga Ochoa de Chinchetru, for His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain.

In his message to the King of Spain, Leader of the Opposition Dr. Shafiqur Rahman extended heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the King, the Royal Family, the Government and the people of Spain on the occasion of Spain`s National Day. He also wished continued peace, progress and prosperity for Spain.

The letter emphasized strengthening the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Spain. It highlighted the prospects of expanding bilateral ties through trade and investment, development cooperation, culture, education, migration, tourism and people-to-people contacts. The message also specially mentioned the contribution of Bangladeshi expatriates living in Spain.

Members of the Central Executive Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand and Md. Mobarak Hossain and Member of the Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee to the Leader of the Opposition Ali Ahmad Mabrur were present at the reception.
