AB Party, Pakistan discuss trade, investment and regional cooperation

Desk Report: Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) Chairman Mojibur Rahman Manju met Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in trade, investment, healthcare, education and other areas of mutual interest.

The courtesy meeting took place at the Pakistan High Commission in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Wednesday, October 14, according to a statement.

The discussions covered a wide range of issues concerning Bangladesh-Pakistan relations, with particular emphasis on regional cooperation, trade and investment, medical tourism, education, healthcare and cultural exchanges.

Both sides also highlighted the importance of maintaining regional peace and stability. The discussion included Pakistan’s inclusion in the Mecca Agreement, reflecting an interest in broader regional engagement and cooperation.

During the meeting, High Commissioner Imran Haider thanked the AB Party leaders for expressing solidarity with him and enquiring about the well-being of his family following a fire at his residence. He appreciated their concern and gesture of support.

The Pakistani envoy also shared his positive experiences during his tenure in Bangladesh, expressing appreciation for the hospitality and warmth of the Bangladeshi people.

Haider expressed optimism about further expanding cooperation between the two countries, particularly in trade, investment, healthcare, medical services and education. Greater collaboration in these sectors could help create new opportunities for businesses, students, patients and professionals in both countries.

The meeting also reflected a shared interest in strengthening engagement between Bangladesh and Pakistan through dialogue, mutual understanding and practical cooperation.

Both sides expressed hope that bilateral relations would continue to progress on the basis of mutual trust and cooperation, with increased engagement in areas of common interest.

Mohammad Wasif, Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan, attended the meeting.

The AB Party delegation included General Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, Joint General Secretary Barrister Zubair Ahmed Bhuiyan, Abdullah Al Mamun Rana and Barrister Abbas Islam Khan.

The meeting comes amid discussions on expanding regional partnerships and strengthening economic and people-to-people ties. Cooperation in trade, investment, education and healthcare could serve as important avenues for deepening Bangladesh-Pakistan engagement in the coming days.
