Pakistan Envoy, Speaker discuss stronger parliamentary ties

Parliament Correspondent: In a significant step towards deepening bilateral ties, Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mr. Imran Haider called on Hon`ble Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament Hafiz Uddin Ahmad Bir Bikram at the Parliament on Sunday.

The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the growing friendship between the two brotherly countries.

During the discussion, the High Commissioner focused on the Hon`ble Speaker`s forthcoming visit to Pakistan, which is expected to open a new chapter in inter-parliamentary cooperation. Mr. Haider also briefed the Speaker on Pakistan`s commitment to capacity building programmes for parliamentary officials of Bangladesh and to expanding people-to-people exchanges that benefit the youth, professionals and civil society of both nations.

A key moment of the meeting was when High Commissioner Imran Haider warmly felicitated the Hon`ble Speaker on Bangladesh`s prestigious election to the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). The Hon`ble Speaker thanked the High Commissioner for Pakistan`s valuable support during the election, acknowledging Pakistan`s role as a true friend in the international arena.

Both dignitaries agreed that closer cooperation between the parliaments of Pakistan and Bangladesh is crucial to provide a robust and lasting foundation for bilateral relations.
