China`s New Development Blueprint Presented to Global Community and US Intelligentsia

A global dialogue titled "China`s Governance and Global Development," jointly organized by China Media Group (CMG) and the Chinese Embassy in the United States, was held in Washington on November 2 (local time).

Shen Haixiong, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President of CMG, delivered a video address to the dialogue, while Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng delivered the keynote speech. Robert Lawrence Kuhn, Chairman of the Kuhn Foundation, along with American friend of China Mr. Secos, also participated in the proceedings.

Approximately 100 distinguished guests—comprising representatives from American strategic circles and the business community, scholars, media professionals, and university students—engaged in an in-depth exchange of views on China`s governance experience and its contributions to global development.

In his address, Shen Haixiong stated that to understand contemporary China, one must understand the CPC. He noted that the Fifth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee recently concluded in Beijing, delivering a clear and resolute message to the world: with a glorious 105-year history, the CPC will continually fortify itself through elevated standards and pragmatic, tangible actions.

Shen added that as the world’s largest and most diversified international media organization, CMG remains dedicated to effectively articulating and communicating the CPC`s governance strategies, telling the stories of the CPC with greater vitality, and broadcasting high-caliber productions. Leveraging 85 languages, CGTN’s integrated multi-platform media reach, and 192 overseas bureaus, CMG has built an enduring dialogue platform to facilitate mutual learning and global cultural exchanges.

Ambassador Xie Feng highlighted that the successful convocation of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has garnered widespread global attention. He characterized the plenum as a historic milestone convened at a critical juncture marking the 105th anniversary of the founding of the CPC and at an essential phase in advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Xie further observed that in September this year, President Xi Jinping visited the United States after 11 years. During that visit, the heads of state of both nations agreed to build a constructive, strategic, and stable China-US relationship anchored in mutual respect, fairness, and equality.

Robert Kuhn remarked that the CPC`s steadfast commitment to full and rigorous self-governance provides a solid institutional guarantee for China’s ongoing opening-up and modernization.

American friend of China Mr. Secos shared the heartfelt story of his deep friendship with and support for Yin Yuzhen, a prominent Chinese anti-desertification specialist. He remarked that although the United States and China operate under different political systems and development pathways, both nations remain committed to advancing national development and improving the livelihoods of their people. He emphasized that both sides should focus on shared goals rather than accentuating differences.

The "China`s Governance and Global Development" global dialogue series is scheduled to be held successively across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
