  Govt honours 102 eminent teachers on World Teachers’ Day

(BSS)- The government today honoured 102 eminent teachers on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day 2026.

The teachers from different levels of education were given the honour in recognition of their contributions to the teaching profession and nation-building.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman handed over a certificate, crest and a cheque of Taka 200,000 to every teacher at a function arranged by the Ministry of Education at Osmani Memorial Auditorium here this afternoon.

The World Teachers’ Day is being observed in the country like elsewhere in the world to recognise the contributions of the teachers to nation-building and highlight the importance of ensuring their dignity and rights as well as professional development.

Of the 102 teachers, 10 were from the primary level, 20 from secondary level, 25 from college level, 20 from general universities, 10 from medical colleges and universities, three from agricultural universities, three from engineering universities and four from other specialised universities.

Besides, seven teachers selected by the Prime Minister were also honoured.
