  6 more die of dengue, 2,089 hospitalised in 24 hours

 

Six more people died of dengue while 2,089 others were hospitalised across the country in the past 24 hours on Sunday.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services, of the six deaths, two were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation, three in Khulna division and one in Mymensingh division.

Dhaka division recorded the highest number of new patients in the 24-hour period, with 514 cases. Khulna reported 330 cases, Chattogram 324 and Rajshahi 224, while the remaining cases were reported in other divisions.

Since January, dengue has claimed 262 lives and infected 86,458 people across the country, according to the DGHS.

The number of male patients has been higher than that of female patients during the period.
