Collective Action Vital for a Green Nation: ICCES Urges Nationwide Afforestation at 1st Anniversary Event

Moin Mahmood : The Institute of Climate Change, Environment and Sustainability (ICCES) has highlighted that there is no alternative to collective effort in building a green nation and mitigating the adverse effects of climate change. ICCES members made these remarks during a meeting held at the Jaitun Restaurant in Agargaon, Dhaka, marking the organization’s first anniversary.

Presided over by ICCES Chairman Engr. Sheikh Tajul Islam Tuhin, the meeting evaluated the institute’s achievements over the past year and outlined its strategic action plan for the coming year. The members also announced plans for a large-scale anniversary celebration.

Addressing the gathering, speakers emphasized that climate change impacts everyone indiscriminately, requiring a unified public response. They stressed the critical need for raising public awareness and fostering civic responsibility regarding environmental protection. They emphasis the holistic approach of climate action from the green procurement to climate resilient measures for all development activities of the country.
Referring to the government`s initiative to plant 50 million trees, speakers noted that standard care and monitoring are essential to reap long-term benefits, calling on relevant authorities to address implementation challenges effectively.
ICCES informed the media that celebrating 8th October as foundation day, a series of programs and events will be organized in December to officially celebrate its anniversary.
