Sabrin Zerin, Madaripur: A joint operation was launched on Monday morning by the Madaripur administration and people`s representatives to enforce the week-long lockdown. At this time, the issue of strict position including awareness hand miking was informed. The raids were carried out at important places including Puranbazar, New Town and Eaterpool in Madaripur municipal town.
It is learned that most of the shops in Madaripur are closed on the first day of the lockdown imposed by the government. Passengers are traveling in easybikes and autorickshaws as public transport is closed. Ordinary people have been seen less outside than on other days. Various steps have also been taken by the Madaripur administration. In the morning, Madaripur Municipality Mayor Khalid Hossain Iyad, Additional Superintendent of Police Sadar Circle Ehsanur Rahman Bhuiyan, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Saifuddin Gias, Sadar Police Station OC Kamrul Islam Mina and a team of administration conducted a joint operation at important places including Puranbazar. No one was fined or punished as it was the first day of the lockdown. However, it is warned to be stricter from tomorrow. Awareness campaign is conducted through hand mic.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Saifuddin Gias said, "We are in a strict position to implement the lockdown on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner." Legal action will be taken if anyone leaves the house without specific work. Violators will be punished by running mobile courts every day.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Ehsanur Rahman Bhuiyan said police were patrolling every important place. No one can leave the house without a mask. If anyone disobeys the government`s instructions, the district police will not release anyone.
Madaripur municipal mayor Khalid Hossain Iyad said the second wave of corona was more frightening than before. Now if someone doesn`t do it, he will die of shortness of breath in a few days. Therefore, we have taken to the field to implement the week-long lockdown announced by the government. No exemption will be given to those who break the law. No one was fined or punished for being the first day. The administration will make all arrangements from Tuesday.
