Allegation of torture against the police
  Date : 27-04-2024

Naogaon Correspondent: An allegation of torturing an innocent person has been received against Naogaon Police Station. In the morning, the victim`s family raised the allegation of violence in a press conference at the Naogaon District Press Club.

Abdus Salam and his wife Jharna Begum, residents of Dhekra village of Badalgachi upazila, gave a written statement at the press conference. They said that there was a conflict with neighboring influential Sabina Yasmin Kamla Begum over the boundary of the land. In that incident, last Monday, some policemen including OC Atiyar Rahman of Badalgachi Police Station called Abdus Salam from his house and brutally tortured him by slapping, kicking, and punching him publicly in front of the villagers. At one stage of the mayhem, Salam was taken to the police car and threatened to be sent to court. The victims demanded a proper investigation of the incident and exemplary punishment of the culprits. Salam`s family members and other local residents were present at the press conference.
