3 youths died after drinking poisonous alcohol in Kushtia during Durga Puja festival

Rasheduzzaman Rimon, Mirpur: Three youths died after drinking poisonous alcohol at separate places in Kushtia. They died at Kushtia GeneralHospital in the early hours of Wednesday (October 28). They are Ripon Kumar Ghosh (32), son of Bhabesh Ghosh of Kalibari Bazar in Khoksa upazila, Nitai Biswas (35), son of late Debendranath Biswas of Kantadah village in Mirpur upazila and Anik Biswas (21), son of Tapan Biswas of Bara Ailchara village in Sadar upazila. Dr. Tapas Kumar Sarkar, Resident Medical Officer of Kushtia GeneralHospital said that they became seriously ill after drinking alcohol during the Durga Puja festival. Family members rescued them and admitted them to Kushtia GeneralHospital. They were admitted to the hospital between 12 noon and 4:30 pm. They were given the necessary treatment. One by one 3 youths died while undergoing treatment. However, the relatives of the patient at the hospital did not agree to comment on the matter. Confirming the incident, Kushtia Superintendent of Police SM Tanvir Arafat said police were investigating the deaths of three youths due to poisoning.
