Inauguration of tree planting campaign and tree fair in Cox`s Bazar

Abu sayem, Cox`s bazar: Keeping the theme of ``Darnish the country with trees, enrich Bangladesh``, Cox`s Bazar District Administration, Forest Department jointly initiated a 7-day tree plantation campaign and the Tree Fair-2024.

On September 19 (Thursday) at 10:30 in the morning, the new Deputy Commissioner of Cox`s Bazar, Mohammad Salah Uddin inaugurated the fair by blowing balloons and cutting the ribbon. Earlier, around 10 o`clock in the morning, the rally came out from the premises of the District Commissioner of Cox`s Bazar through musical instruments and went around the main road of the city.
Cox`s Bazar District Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin spoke as the chief guest in the discussion meeting.
He said that everyone should come forward in planting trees. Everyone including students should play a role in planting trees. They should be more aware of forest and environment conservation and should plant trees and take care of them.
Superintendent of Police Rahmat Ullah, Divisional Forest Officer of Cox`s Bazar North Forest Division spoke as a special guest. Anowar Hossain Sarkar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Yamin Hossain, Upazila Executive Officer (Headquarters) Nilufa Yasmin Chowdhury.

Md. Anisur Rahman, Deputy Forest Officer of Cox`s Bazar South Forest Division gave a welcome speech in the discussion meeting.
In the President`s speech, Divisional Forest Officer of Cox`s Bazar South Forest Division. Sarwoar Alam said, the role of tree plantation is immense in building a beautiful livable city and protecting the environment. Contribute to the balance of the environment by planting trees.
We all need to plant trees and stop cutting trees without any reason. Plant more saplings and play an important role in saving forests and environment. Because, in addition to protecting the environment, forest and fruit trees play an incomparable role in the production of nutritious food.

He also said that the people should be encouraged through publicity campaigns regarding the tree fair.
He also said that as part of this year`s plantation campaign, each of you will plant one fruit, one forest, one medicinal and other species of tree sapling in your yard and on the roof of your house. Then our organization of this tree fair will be successful and beneficial.
He thanked everyone for attending the event and making it a success.
It should be noted that 17 stalls participated in this year`s tree planting campaign and tree fair. Lakhs of saplings will be gathered in the tree fair.

Different types of seedlings are being sold in the fair at a low price, every day from 9 am to 8 pm you can find forest, fruit, medicinal and other varieties of seedlings.
The fair has organized interesting cultural programs every evening. The tree plantation drive and the closing ceremony of the tree fair will be held on September 25.
