Sirajganj court sentences man to death for killing wife

A Sirajganj court today (October 20) sentenced a man to death sentence for killing his wife in Ullapara upazila of the district in 2011.

District and Session Judge M Ali Ahmed handed down the verdict to Chand Mia, 40, hailed in Enayet Ashrayan Project area in the upazila.

The court also fined him Taka 10000, in default he will serve a month more in jail.

According to the prosecution story, on July 31 in 2011 convict Chand Mia beat his wife Tahmina over family feud. She was admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura first and referred to Enam Medical College Hospital later in Saver where she breathed her last under treatment on August 8.

Her father filed a murder case with Ullapara Model Thana later.

Testifying witnesses and evidences the court passed the order in presence of Chand Mia, said public prosecutor advocate Rafique Sardar.
