Tourist drowns in Cox`s Bazar beach

A young tourist drowned while bathing at Kalatali point of Cox`s Bazar sea beach on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Simon, 20, son of Shah Alam, from Palangkhali area under Ukhiya upazila.

Tanveer Hossain, Magistrate of Tourist Cell of Cox`s Bazar District Commissioner, confirmed the death matter.

Citing locals, he said that Simon came to take a bath at Kalatali Point in the afternoon when a strong wave washed him away.

After a while, he was rescued and taken to Cox`s Bazar Sadar Hospital where the doctors declared him dead, he added.
