Attack on UNO’s motorcade in Gopalganj amid NCP’s rally
  Date : 17-07-2025

Online Report : An attack was carried out on the motorcade of the Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) during a central program of the National Citizen Party (NCP), titled “July March to Rebuild the Nation.”

The attack was reportedly planned by activists of the banned organizations Chhatra League and Awami League.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning in Gandhiashur area along the Ghonapara-Tekerhat regional road. Members of Awami League and Chhatra League cut down trees to block the road as part of their protest. When the UNO approached to speak with them, the attackers targeted and vandalized his motorcade.

Confirming the incident, UNO M. Rakibul Hasan said, “As part of the NCP’s July March, a rally and street meeting were scheduled to take place today at the municipal park in Gopalganj town. To thwart the program, supporters of the Awami League and Chhatra League first launched an attack on the police and then attacked and vandalized my motorcade.”

The attack has sparked serious concern over safety and political tensions in the region. Further investigation is reportedly underway.
