Curfew in Gopalganj extended

Online Report : The district administration of Gopalganj has extended the ongoing curfew by 22 hours following violence and attacks surrounding a rally organized by the National Citizen Party (NCP).

The extension was announced in an official notice issued on Thursday (July 17).

According to the new directive, the curfew will remain in effect from Thursday evening (July 17) at 6:00 PM until Friday (July 18) at 12:00 PM, and then again from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM the same day. The curfew will be temporarily lifted from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday.

On Wednesday, the situation turned violent in Gopalganj`s Municipal Park area after an attack on an NCP motorcade as leaders were returning from the rally. In response, the district administration imposed Section 144.

A curfew was initially enforced from 8:00 PM Wednesday to 6:00 PM Thursday. Now, the curfew has been extended by an additional 22 hours.
